Attawapiskat First Nation

The Attawapiskat First Nation called a State of Emergency and neither the Federal or Ontario Provincial goverment has come to help. In a world where we are concerned with the living conditions in third world countries, we have our own Native population living in substandard conditions. Families are living in tents, sheds, rotting houses without electricity, running water or heat. The school was forced to close twelve years ago because children were being exposed to dangerous levels of benzene from the badly contaminated ground. The school has not been replaced. This fight for equal education has gone all the way to the United Nations.led by a 13 year old child demanding clean and equitable schools.. We demand that the Federal and Provincial government cease their disregard and further marginalization of the Attawapiskat First Nation
